Every once in a while the #glow becomes the focus. Every once in a while the #glow becomes the focus. My work is constantly shifting into detail and back to abstraction, each driving the other. The starting point for what has now become a series is ‘The Orange Blind’ by Scottish Colourist Cadell but my piece references landscape (both the comfort of familiar places and the excitement of the unknown). This is the boldest yet with no room for error on those sweeping brush strokes. ‘Afterglow’, oil on wood panel, 90 x 60cm plus frame is heading to Battersea @affordableartfairuk 25 year celebration fair. About to paint the edges of this new canvas before About to paint the edges of this new canvas before loading tomorrow for @affordableartfairuk Battersea. It’s my current favourite working size 140 x 130cm which gives scope for fluid shapes and contrasting fine foreground detail but requires intense concentration! It’s based on #larachmhorgardens in the west Highlands and hopefully catches the dramatic scale of trees and serenity. AAF Battersea runs 16-20 October. Flooded Wood Series (Afternoon Sun Frozen Ground) Flooded Wood Series (Afternoon Sun Frozen Ground) 180 x 125cm will be heading to @affordableartfairuk Hampstead in a few weeks with @hay.loft.design In this ongoing series of paintings I capture the grandeur and changing seasons of what is in fact a small patch of woodland: a shortcut on the walk to school or a quick dog walk. The river disappears in the summer and it’s strangely quiet.
